New Videos Coming Out This Week
Here's what you need to know to plan your next trip to the video store. There are some interesting releases slated for October 9, 2001, including Bridget Joness Diary, One Night at McCools, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Bridget Joness Diary

Based on the bestselling novel by Helen Fielding, this romantic comedy stars Renee Zellweger. Bridget Jones (Zellweger) is an unattached 32-year-old woman who vows to lose weight, cut down her drinking and smoking, and get a man in her life. Bridget, who works for a London publishing house, also decides to record her efforts in a diary. She soon finds herself in a romantic relationship with her attractive boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), but he turns out to be something of a cad. However, Bridget also knows a man named Mark Darcy who might or might not be boyfriend material. Meanwhile, Bridgets mother (Gemma Jones) grows unhappy with Bridgets father (Jim Broadbent) and starts an affair with a TV shopping channel host. Seventy-six percent of the critics on Rotten Tomatoes liked Bridget Joness Diary.

One Night at McCools

In this dark comedy, three men give three different views of a femme fatale named Jewel (Liv Tyler). Randy (Matt Dillon) is a bartender at McCools who meets Jewel one night when she comes into the bar. Jewel wreaks such havoc in Randys life that he wants to hire a hitman (Michael Douglas) to kill her. Detective Dehling (John Goodman) becomes enthralled with Jewel while investigating a murder, and he talks about her to a priest. Carl (Paul Reiser), an attorney whos married with children, also falls hard for Jewel, and he tells his psychiatrist (Reba McEntire) about her. The descriptions given by Randy, Dehling, and Carl are so different that its sometimes hard to recognize theyre talking about the same woman. But to Jewel, each of these three men is just an object in her environment to be manipulated.
